Last 11 July 2023, AFPMBAI signed a MOA with the Bureau of Corrections, granting personnel of the bureau regular membership in the Association. This entitles the men and women of BUCOR to enjoy benefits and privileges such as the MBAI Protek basic insurance with an Equity Fund they will receive when they leave the service, along with insurance loans and real estate loans they can avail. BUCOR’s regular membership also gives them the right to vote during the Annual General Membership Meeting.
Apart from including the bureau in the roster of AFPMBAI’s regular members, the Association also handed over 10 wheelchairs, together with a laptop for the BUCOR Director General’s office. The event was held at the Director’s Quarters, New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Reservation, Muntinlupa City, where Gen Gregorio Pio P Catapang Jr, AFP (Ret), CESE, Director General, Bureau of Corrections, received the donations on behalf of the bureau, and represented BUCOR in the MOA signing with AFPMBAI as well.
OIC-Deputy Director General for Administration/Chief Legal Service, Gen Al I Perreras AFP (Ret) remarked that the wheelchair donation was really necessary and timely, as the persons deprived of liberty who are either elderly or with physical disability were being carried around using monoblock chairs. Hence, the detainee beneficiaries, along with the BUCOR officers were very grateful for the said donation from AFPMBAI.
